The science behind Hernuvin

The Hernuvin skin care range is medically designed by a plastic surgeon and trauma reconstruction specialist. Leveraging his depth of knowledge and expertise on healing skin, the Hernuvin range has been crafted using a range of high-tech active ingredients to promote healthy skin.

Ingredients

Carnosine

Carnosine is a potent and effective anti-aging substance, proven to lengthen cellular life span. It is also protects protein in your skin from excessive damage, while preserving connective tissue that gives firm and youthful skin.

Kyotorphin

Kyotorphin is a small peptide that controls how negative stimuli are experienced by the skin (skin irritation). It tones down the nerve response to sensitivity, addressing the increased sensitivity sometimes caused by cancer treatment.

GHK

The human tri-peptide GHK has multiple biological actions:

  • It stimulates fibroblasts to manufacture collagen and hyaluronic acid
  • Improves skin healing
  • Decreases wrinkle depth

GQPR

GQPR has the following functions:

  • Strengthens the dermal matrix
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Increased skin hydration
  • Decrease in skin roughness
  • Increases skin firmness and elasticity

Hyaluronic Acid

While the name might sound scary, harsh, and synthetic, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is actually a natural molecule produced in our bodies. Hyaluronic Acid is incredibly effective in soothing, and hydrating the skin.
This molecule forms part of our skin’s own NMF’s (Natural Moisturising Factors) and can retain up to 1000 times its own weight in moisture. Hyaluronic Acid penetrates the upper layers of skin, attracts moisture from the environment and holds onto it providing great, long-lasting hydration to your skin cells. This is what sets Hyaluronic Acid apart from products that provide only temporary hydration. Hyaluronic Acid also supports the tissue regeneration process involved in healing wounds.

Oleanonic Acid

Oleanonic Acid supports enhanced cell proliferation, and evidence suggests that it may work by stimulating the reproduction of hair matrix cells.

Dipeptide-VW

Dipeptide-VW helps prevent puffiness and reduces bags under the eyes.

Shea butter

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. With anti-inflammatory properties, it helps to reduce redness and irritation – without clogging the pores.

Apigenin

Apigenin stimulates the elongation of hair follicles for better hair growth. It is has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Genistein

Genistein is an isoflavone that occurs naturally in soybeans. It is a potent antioxidant that stimulates collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production. This helps to think your skin, improve dryness and soften wrinkles. Genistein has shown great results for skin elasticity, photoaging, and skin cancer prevention.

Retinol

Retinol is a type of retinoid, made from Vitamin A. The tiny molecules that make up retinal go deep beneath the epidermis to neutralise free radicals in your dermis – which boosts the production of elastin and collagen. This creates a plumping effect which reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and large pores.

Hesperidin Mehtyl Chalcone

Hesperidin Mehtyl Chalcone is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory found in citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruit. It reduces dark circles under the eyes, and lowers the filtration rate of capillaries. This means less blood flows though capillaries close to the surface of the skin, potentially reducing dark bluish discoloration under the eyes.

N-Hydroxysuccinimide & Chrysin

Chrysin and N-hydroxysuccinimide, work together by improving circulation and diluting the accumulation of blood pigmentation that can cause discolouration to appear on the skin. As well as helping dark circles, they also help to boost the production of collagen in the skin and improve elasticity and suppleness.

Biotinyl GHK

Biotinyl GHK increases your scalp’s production of cellular binding elements which blocks the effects of alopecia. It also increases blood stimulation within the scalp, allowing more nourishment to reach the dermal papilla cells, which will produce healthier growing hair.

Microfine Titanium Dioxide

Microfine Titanium Dioxide is combined with highly photo-stable organic filters for long-lasting protection against sun exposure. The titanium dioxide is extremely safe, and remains deposited on the skin, without skin penetration.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has the following effects on your skin:
Minimises redness and blotchiness – Niacinamide reduces inflammation, which helps ease redness from eczema, acne, and other inflammatory skin conditions.

Supports skin structure – Niacinamide helps build collagen, a type of protein that keeps your skin firm and healthy.

Builds skin barrier – Niacinamide promotes ceramide (lipid) production, which helps retain moisture. This is beneficial for all skin types, especially if you have eczema or mature skin.

Minimises pore appearance – Keeping skin smooth and moisturised has a secondary benefit — a natural reduction in pore size over time.

Regulates sebum production – Sebum is the oily substance produced by the skin. Niacinamide decreases oil production, which contributes to decreasing pore size and acne.

Protects against sun damage – Niacinamide can concurrently rebuild healthy skin cells while also protecting them from damage caused by ultraviolet rays.

Treats hyperpigmentation – Pigment (melanin) is produced in the deep layer of the epidermis, from where it is transported to the superficial layers. This causes increased pigmentation. Niacinamide decreases this transport mechanism. The increased collagen production, from niacinamide, further aids in this.

Protects against oxidative stress – Niacinamide has an antioxidant effect, which also protects the skin from environmental stresses, such as sunlight, pollution, and toxins.

Treats acne – Niacinamide is helpful for severe acne, especially inflammatory forms like papules and pustules. Over time, you may see fewer lesions and improved skin texture

Minimises fine lines and wrinkles.

Imperata Cylindrica

Also known as Cogon Grass Root Extract and Japanese Blood Grass Root Extract, Imperata Cylindrica targets dehydrated skin and helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Other functions include:

  • Provides impressive long-term moisturising effects
  • Improves internal housekeeping ability of the cell
  • Helps the cell’s own ability to keep moisture in the skin

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic Acid helps your skin in the following ways:

  • Penetrates into sebaceous glands
  • Anti-inflammatory action
  • Reduces redness
  • Assists in treating acne
  • Creates gentle exfoliation action

Diaminopropionyl Tripeptide-33 and Dimethylmethoxy Chromanol

Diaminopropionyl Tripeptide-33 and Dimethylmethoxy Chromanol provides cellular protection against free radicals, in the form of reactive oxygen, reactive nitrogen and reactive carbonyl species.

Additional functions include:

  • Protect fibroblasts and epidermal skin cells against toxins
  • Protect against DNA damage and improves DNA repair
  • Preserves and protects skin enzyme function
  • Reduces the rate of cellular photoaging and cellular stress

Pentapeptide KTTKS

Pentapeptide KTTKS has a direct effect on fibroblast function, which helps your skin in the following ways:

  • Increases collagen and support proteins in the skin
  • Wrinkles visually less pronounced
  • Creates smoother skin
  • Decreases skin roughness

Stabilised Vitamin C in the form of L-Ascorbic Acid 2-Glucoside

Stabilised Vitamin C in the form of L-Ascorbic Acid 2-Glucoside helps your skin in the following ways:

  • Aids in collagen synthesis.
  • Supports skin immune system.
  • Reduces abnormal pigmentation.
  • Acts as an anti-oxidant.
