5 Daily Habits for Great Skin

Five Daily Habits for Getter Skin

“A good skin care routine is all I need for beautiful skin.” Right? Mm, not quite… Yes, a good skin care routine is crucial, but skin care products can only penetrate so much. We highlight five additional daily habits for you to consider that we believe will make a difference to your skin, from the inside out; and best of all, they are Mohala! Gratis! Free!

Let’s get started…

Just a side note: I heard a quote, “I’m tired of all this nonsense about beauty being skin deep. That’s deep enough. What do you want, an adorable pancreas?” – Jean Kerr

Well, actually yes, we do want an adorable pancreas (Hello! without a healthy functioning pancreas our digestion system would be a horrible mess), because feeling and looking great starts from the inside out!

1. Start Your Day with a Detox Drink

Detox teas have become popular over the past few years. And with good reason. They are really good for your gut health and therefore your skin.  It doesn’t have to be anything too complicated or expensive. We’ve got into the habit of starting our day with a cup of warm water and a squeeze of lemon (‘cos lemons grow for free in the garden and give and give all year round). This simple remedy packs a power punch:

  • Lemon’s detoxifying qualities help cleanse your liver of toxins that might otherwise impact your skin.
  • Additionally, the warm water hydrates and nourishes your body.
  • Plus it helps boost your digestive system, simultaneously helping you de-bloat.

You can try lemon, apple cider vinegar, cucumber, ginger, turmeric or even cinnamon – and a little honey, but don’t overdo it! This routine will help you set good intentions for the day ahead.

2. Give Yourself a Facial Massage

To give you that extra glow try a mini facial massage. It only takes a few minutes, and with the right movements, you’ll boost circulation and remove toxins by draining them via your lymphatic system. Doing this every morning will combat morning puffiness and help to sculpt and tighten your facial muscles.

Give Yourself a Facial Massage

Use our diagram to direct your fingers in the massage movement direction. This will help to move blood through congested areas, stimulate blood flow, and provide your facial muscles with more oxygen for recovery. Check out more about lymphatic drainage and more facial massage techniques here.

3. Exercise Daily

By exercising regularly you’ll not only look and feel healthier, but your skin will benefit too! Exercise boosts blood flow, which increases skin cell renewal and can speed up your body’s process of removing any skin-aggravating toxins. It’s also a natural mood enhancer and stress buster as it releases endorphins (happy hormones) in the brain. Exercising for thirty minutes a day will make a real difference to your mind, body, and of course, your skin. Remember, stress increases levels of cortisol in your body, and this hormone triggers an increase in oil, thereby increasing the chances of skin congestion that can lead to pimples.

4. Meditate with Your Skin in Mind

Meditation can really help your skin as it’s such a powerful way to de-stress. By meditating for just five minutes a day, you’ll calm your mental state, while delivering oxygen to the skin, which is fundamental in promoting cellular health. Higher levels of oxygen will rejuvenate your skin, help balance your body, and boost cell and tissue repair. New to meditation? Learn more here.

5. Sleep to Restore Your Skin

While you’re busy sleeping your skin’s metabolism is working overtime, reproducing skin cells so it can repair and replenish more efficiently. So, if you’re not getting enough sleep, your skin is not getting this crucial time to replenish and restore itself. Ideally, you should be clocking in eight hours a night to wake up feeling well-rested. If you struggle with sleep, try this today: For the next week, keep track of how many hours of sleep you get per night. If it’s less than seven, try to go to bed 30 minutes earlier every day the following week. Gradually increase this until you’re getting at least 7 hours per night.

The bottom line?

Our five additional daily habits highlight simple techniques that will not only benefit your skin but your mind, body and soul will love it too. Choose the ones that will easily fit into your lifestyle and start practicing them today.
